Sterile Processing Technician - Central Sterile Services - Part Time - Afternoons

Located in Fremont, Ohio, ProMedica Memorial Hospital has served the citizens of Sandusky County and the adjacent communities since 1918. The Central Sterile Technician performs a variety of cleaning, assembling, and processing duties for reusable instruments and equipment. Performs various patient care activities and related non-professional services to assist nursing personnel. Functions under the direction of the Staff RN, Charge Nurse, or Unit Director, complying with established policies, procedures, and standards of practice in conjunction with all members of the health care team.

  • Cleans, checks, assembles, wraps and sterilizes all reusable items.
  • Cleans autoclaves weekly.
  • Uses aseptic procedures and complies with appropriate policies in performing Central Sterile (CS) duties.
  • Runs and maintains the Steris system.
  • Handles contaminated items using proper infection control procedures.
  • Maintains OR stock and supplies. Checks PAR levels, and orders appropriately. Generates orders for special order items as directed by Charge Nurse or Unit Director. Performs routine clerical functions related to supplies.
  • Assists nursing personnel with admissions, transfers, and discharges. Transports patients using appropriate safety measures. Recognizes and prioritizes assignments appropriately.
  • Maintains daily quality control records.
  • Assists with transportation and handling of surgical specimens.
  • High School graduate. On the job training in the department is required.
  • Maintain CPR American Heart Association Heart Saver AED.
  • Must obtain certification within 1 year in position.
  • Must be in good health, be able to stand and work at long periods, move up to twenty (20) pounds, and push heavy racks of supplies.
  • Must be able to tolerate extreme temperatures. Works with water, washing, handling sharps, and high pressure steam sterilizers.
  • Must have a concern for patient care, have an interest to complete the work accurately, economically and to work well with people.
  • Ability to tolerate physical and mental stresses, and retain emotional stability in crisis situations.
  • Work is inside and of medium demand. Environment occasionally hot. Regular exposure to hot water.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
