This supervisor will directly supervise a mixture of children services staff which could include ongoing, investigations, support staff.
Further duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
evaluating the activities of ongoing cases; tracking and monitoring all cases received withing the unit; reviewing the paperwork, activities, and findings of caseworkers; and approving decisions relating to cases.
Also, the supervisor maintains child placement records, casework logs and other statistical data as required.
The position also requires routine individual assessment and planning conferences with staff and unit meetings when appropriate to disseminate information or to resolve problems.
The supervisor may also approve the pursuit of temporary custody, permanent custody, removal of a child from the home, placement of children into foster or residential care, or return of the child to the natural family.
The supervisor will attend court hearings, administrative reviews and home-visits as is necessary.
The supervisor must be on call approximately every four weeks to assess intakes and set priority ratings.
The supervisor will also be responsible for the following:
reviewing, monitoring and evaluating intake and investigation/assessment activities/process; tracking and monitoring all complaints received within the unit; reviewing screened complaints; making the decision to investigate/assess cases and assigning priority ratings; making assignments to intake worker/investigators; assuring timely initiation and completion of investigations/assessments; reviewing findings of intake work/investigators and approving the presentation of cases to be opened.
Also, the supervisor maintains statistical records regarding number and nature of referrals, dispositions/resolutions and cases opened by maintaining a log of all referrals received by the unit.
Minimum
Qualifications:
We require that an applicant meet at least the following minimum requirements for the Social Services Supervisor 1 classification:
completion of undergraduate major field of study (bachelor's degree) in social work, or closely related field, as required by university or college and 36 months experience as a social services worker 3.
Previous investigation and/or supervisory experience are preferred.
A valid driver's license with acceptable driving record is required.
